Bed cooling without a subscription: Eight Sleep alternatives explained
Eight Sleep's Pod 6 Standard costs $2,899, and new buyers must pay for the first year of Autopilot (the Enhanced plan shown at checkout is $299/yr, so $3,198 in year one). Here's how the no-subscription options compare.
| System | Price | How it cools | Subscription | First-year cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eight Sleep Pod 6 Standard | $2,899 | Water through a mattress cover, dual zone, tracking | Required year 1 ($299 Enhanced plan shown) | $3,198 |
| Sleepme Chilipad 2.0 (queen, single zone) | $1,699 | Water through a pad | None required | $1,699 |
| BedJet 3 | $498 (sale; regular $699) | Fan blows cooled/heated air under the sheets | None | $498 |
BedJet 3 has a Renvo Score of 56/100 (below our 70-point bar: no independent performance test, and a "clinically proven" claim that rests on a self-reported abstract). Chilipad's score is pending: we couldn't find its safety listing. Details.
Water or air?
- Water (Eight Sleep, Chilipad): quieter at the bed, needs refilling and a control unit beside the bed.
- Air (BedJet): cheaper, works fast, but you hear a fan.
- EU buyers: check 230V versions and EU shipping. We haven't verified EU availability yet.
